Presentation of the work
With the creation of the Author’s Dictionary, the aim of the Consell Català del Llibre Infantil i Juvenil (Catalan Council for Children's and Young Person's Literature or ClijCAT with its Catalan initials) has been to respond to the multitude of questions about current writers of literature for children and young people in Catalan. The Council is aware that there is still work to be done on the tool, but is sure that the computerisation of the Dictionary and continual communication between the authors and ClijCAT will lead to improvement, and that the half-yearly information renovation process will help to keep it alive and up-to-date.
THE AUTHORS: writers and illustrators are included in the dictionary once they have had five works of literary or pictorial creation published directly in Catalan (not including textbooks, information books, manuals, etc.), or, in the case of illustrators, have had their work published in a Catalan edition. The information on each author is comprised of a photograph, a short biography and the bibliography of their first editions, and in the case of illustrators, there is a sample of their work.
With the authorization of the author, ClijCAT can pass on personal author contact details to schools, libraries and scholars.
Began the dictionary Josep Maria Aloy Bosch, Eugenia Morer Serra and Rosa Mut Carbasa, commissioned by the Catalan Book Council Children and Youth (ClijCAT) and with the support of the Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries and Institution Catalan Letters.
